Jake Dallenbach to join Series as Official Pace Car Driver

MIAMI, Fla. [APRIL 4, 2017] – The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli will be led out on track throughout the course of the 2017 season by a familiar face, Series pace car driver Jake Dallenbach representing BMW Performance Driving School, the Official Pace Car Provider of the Trans Am Series.

Jake Dallenbach, the son of Trans Am Chief Steward Wally Dallenbach, Jr., will join his father in the Trans Am paddock for all 2017 Trans Am Championship events.  The program was already exhibited at Sebring International Raceway to open up the 2017 competition, with Dallenbach and a BWM M Model leading the way for over 70 Trans Am drivers throughout the two 100-mile races.

“I am really proud and excited for the partnership between the Trans Am Series and the BMW Performance Driving School for the 2017 season,” said Jake Dallenbach, an Instructor with BMW Performance. “This year is going to be a lot of fun! I know that it will really bridge the gap between BMW owners, racers and Trans Am Series. The BMW Performance center is proud and excited to be a part of such an iconic Series and looks forward to growing the relationship between the two. The first race down in Sebring was awesome; getting a chance to work with my dad is a lot of fun, and I’m right at home being in a car and having my dad yelling at me on the radio! I’m looking forward to seeing this relationship grow with the same intensity as the Trans Am Series has over the past few years; it’s an incredible opportunity to have the Ultimate Driving Machine showcased in the ultimate road racing Series!”

The Dallenbach name is a familiar one to fans of Trans Am and motorsport.  Jake’s grandfather, Wally Dallenbach, Sr., stands as one of the greatest chief stewards in the history of motorsport.  Jake’s father, Wally Dallenbach, Jr., is not only the current Trans Am chief steward but a two-time Trans Am Champion and long-time NASCAR Cup competitor.

“We’re pleased to have Jake join us in the Trans Am paddock,” said John Clagett, President of The Trans Am Race Company.  “Trans Am has always aspired to be a family of racers, a paddock people can call home year after year.  With Wally Dallenbach, Jr., returning as our Chief Steward this year, it only made sense to bring Jake and BMW Performance Driving School on board.  We know that our field is in good hands with Jake, and fans looking to build on their own driving skillset are in good hands with BMW Performance.”

Jake Dallenbach will lead the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli out on track at Homestead-Miami for Round 2 of the 2017 Trans Am Championship on April 8-9.
